Introduction

Virtual interfaces are devices which appear to software as regular network interfaces, with all their capacities and features. They are however virtual devices and either route their traffic through a physical device or through another virtual device like a virtual switch (etherstub).

Virtual interfaces can be created, modified and managed using dladm.
