Enlightenment is a lightweight Desktop Environment which provides an interesting alternative to GNOME.

Developers have shown interest in supporting OpenIndiana while Tribblix already offers e17 as optional graphical environment.

Known issues:

  • HAL support issues should be investigated.
  • Adding PulseAudio support or waiting for SoX backend should be discussed. Pulseaudio is now in oi-userland.
  • Enlightenment freezes if the screenshot application is invoked.
  • Often ecore_x_vsync process take 100% of one core and does not exit
  • Desktop cache refesh may dump core occasionnally.
