  • 2 using add-on ASMedia ASM1061 PCI-E X1 SATA card (Device supported and detected by OI but HDD not detected. Possibly due to other unrelated issues. Still testing.)

Note: The Intel X4500 VGA adapter will throw up some errors pertaining to "regiter error" and "vga init error" either during setup or boot. However, it will still work fine and OI will install / boot without problems. Unsupported driver issues?

i have tried a lot of mainboards from the X8...-F series from SuperMicro with Intel 3420 or 5520 server-chipsets

All boards i tried worked perfectly, beside the problem that i had to update the bios on some of them and deactivate active state power management on X8-SIL-F. All of these boards are quite similar so i expect all of them to work  perfectly with any *Solaris* (and ESXi, important if you want to virtualize OpenIndiana with pass-through to storage controller and disks).

if the boards are eqippped with the very best supported LSI 1068 or LSI 2008 SAS/Sata chipsets, you have to reflash them to IT/ Jbod-mode instead of the default IR/ Raid mode

In my experience, these boards are one of the  "best to use" boards.

    Hello,

WRT the new Intel C202/204/206 chipsets has anyone had success with Openindina (b148b or above) or even Solaris (SE11) is running on any motherboard (I am not interested in running on top of EXSi or vSphere).

Don't want to buy a bleeding edge server only to have it become a Windoze box or an expensive paper weight.

    Thanks in Advance

Intel C202/204/206 chipsets and the Xeon-3 are compatible with OpenIndiana.

Supermicro X7BSi works perfectly on OI 148.

A good MB. Using a lower-speed Xeon Quad and 8GB ECC memor, plus two Seagate 7200.11 disks.

    IPMI device added, is useful.

Used at home as a general server.

    Hello,

I've had installed 10+ OI 151a on MSI E350IA-E45. This is AMD Bobcat Dual Core APU integrated into its mainboard. This is an ALL IN ONE mainboard designed for low maintenance

Everything works fine, with some exceptions :

    • Sometimes USB mouse is detected on certain USB port only. If USB mouse is undetected, try to change to another port
    • Shutdown sometimes work, sometimes unable to shutdown. It stopped in "Syncing files.....done" and I have to manually power down the system.

    Regards,

    Handojo

Marvell 9128 SATA 3 chip - no support

all SATA 2 controllers set in ahci mode

    OI 151a.

Asus P8B-X, Intel C202 chipset, onboard video, onboard lan, onboard disk controllers, Intel Xeon E1220, all working fine.

  10. Hello

oi-dev-151a7 installed and working in MSI 990XA-GD55 mainboard.

everything works (detected + driver load) but for two exceptions:

    • the onboard USB 3.0 controller (NEC) is detected but no driver can be found.
    • install no-go with the onboard "AMD RAID" active, if the controller is set to raid mode, it will not boot - with or without a raid volume setup.

I will submit the device driver utility output in a few..

    ~K

  11. The Gigabyte H55N-USB3 mobo has a NEC PD720200 USB 3.0 chip which locks up the boot process. You need to add -B disable-uhci=true to the grub menu.lst to turn off the USB driver and have the machine boot.

Not having any USB is a bit of a downer though, researching it more.
